Faith Friends

St. Mary and St. Michael’s Faith Friends are pupils from Year 3 to Year 6. They are here to support our friends in their faith and be positive role models throughout the school. As part of their role, they help to organise collective worship within our school and church. This means that they often read at Mass, lead in prayer across the school, or lead assemblies. They also work with the wider community, including the Parish.

CAFOD – Non uniform Day October 2023

Thank you to our Faith Friends, who organised a non-uniform day on Friday 13th October 2023 to raise money for CAFOD; the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, a charity working with communities around the world. We dressed up for ‘Brighten Up’ to raise money for those who are hungry across the world. We raised a whopping £246.90 in aid of CAFOD.

Faith Friends Harvest Feast Day Poem

On 25.10.24, our Faith Friends recited a poem at our school's Harvest Service to celebrate and give thanks for the food that we have. You can read the poem here:

In fields of gold where grains do sway,

We gather 'round this harvest day.

With grateful hearts, we sing and share,

For all the gifts we have, we care.

From dawn til dusk, I toil and sow,

In rain and sun, my blessings grow.

Each seed I plant, a prayer I send,

For healthy crops, and hands to tend.

Look at the pumpkins, bright and round,

A treasure from the earth, we've found.

With laughter, friends, and love to spare,

We gather here with hearts laid bare.

The apples red, the berries sweet,

Nature's bounty is such a treat.

We share our joy, we share our smiles,

As we celebrate across the miles.

With gentle hands, I pull the weeds,

Tending the soil, planting seeds.

A little sun, a little rain,

A harvest rich from nature's chain.

The corn stands tall, the wheat waves wide,

With every harvest, we feel pride.

Let's thank the Lord for all we see,

For every blessing given free.

In gratitude, we raise our voice,

For all creation, let's rejoice!

With every meal that we partake,

We honour all that God does make.

Let's help those in need, both far and near,

For sharing love is why we're here.

A can of food, a simple deed,

Together we plant a loving seed.

As seasons change, and days grow short,

Let's gather 'round, our hearts in port.

For every grain that we have saved,

Is a blessing from the hands that braved.

Let's sing our songs, let's lift our cheer,

For harvest time is finally here!

With grateful hearts and open hands,

We share our love across the lands.

With kindness sown in every heart,

We cultivate a world, a part.

Together, we can change the fate,

And make the world a brighter state.

So here we stand, both young and old,

With stories of harvest yet untold.

In faith and hope, we come to pray,

Thanking God on this Harvest Day.
